New types of nuclear facilities
«MASTER» - small power (up to 3 MW) self-controlled reactor for heat supply. Life-time of the reactor is equal to 60 years with no re-fuelling. The reactor has two-circuit system of heat removal: the primary closed circuit with natural circulation and the secondary consumer’s circuit (t = 80 °Ñ)– with forced circulation. Heat is transferred from the nuclear fuel to the primary circuit coolant via the heat conductivity of the core material (so called “one fuel rod” reactor). This work are carried out within the framework of the Program of Minatom and Ministry of Education.
«ÌÀÐÑ» -specialized medicine reactor for Neutron-capture therapy. The single function of the facility is to produce the neutron beam with the set parameters. The reactor is intended to place and exploit in clinic. Either conventional UO2 fuel or isotope of americium – 242mAm is suggested to use as the fissible material, the specific neutron-physics features of which allow creating reactor of small size.The reactor fuelling is designed for 10 years of operation in the start-stop modeswiht power of 10 kW..
